Munchkins
3 – 5 years old
This group is an introduction of tennis and cover the fundamentals such as movement and co-ordination and basic swing in a fun and relaxed environment.These skills include, stroke play, concentration, balance, agility, running, flexibility and speed.
Parents are asked to stay on court and participate in the session (please wear suitable footwear).
When a child reaches the level of competence required, they will be moved to the mini tennis red group where they will fully join the coaching structure.
Sessions take place on Saturday 10:00am till 11:00am

Mini Red
What is Mini Red?
Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 5 – 8 years and is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.
When do the sessions take place?
We run mini red sessions on
Tuesdays 5:30pm till 6:30pm
Wednesdays 5:00 pm till 6:00pm
Saturdays 11am-12:45pm
(including 45 min tennis specific fitness)
What will my child need?
All your child will need is themselves and a drink. We provide all equipment including rackets if they do not have one.

Mini Orange
What is Mini Orange
Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 – 9 years and is played on small courts with short rackets and softer balls. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts allowing players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.

We run mini Orange sessions on
Tuesdays 5:30pm till 6:30pm
Wednesdays 5:00 pm till 6:00pm
Saturdays 11am-12:45pm

Mini Green
What is Mini Green
Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange and is for players ages 9-11 years old. It is played on a full-size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow balls on a full-sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game.
When do the sessions take place?
We run mini Green sessions on
Tuesdays 6:30pm till 7:30pm
Wednesdays 6:00 pm till 7:00pm
Saturdays 12:00pm-1:45pm
(including 45 min tennis specific fitness)

Challenger Squad
What is the challenger group?
The challenger group is for anyone aged between 11 – 18 and who are new to tennis or have just come through the mini tennis groups and are now ready for a normal tennis ball.
During the term all aspects of tennis are looked at from the Physical, Mental, Tactical and Technical skills required to improving as a player.
When do the sessions take place?
We run the challenger sessions on Thursday 5:00pm till 6:30pm

All your child will need is themselves and a drink. We provide all equipment including rackets if they do not have one.
Performance Session
The club has various performance sessions for players in their teens who are more experienced than the Challenger group and play regularly.
Sessions take place on Monday’s, Wednesday’s, Friday’s and Saturday’s with players learning tennis in a more in-depth structure with the four performance factors. Drills and exercises to work on Physical, Mental, Tactical and Technical skills.
Players also attend a Fitness session run by Sport 981 to work on tennis specific fitness and are encouraged to play external tournaments For more information contact Alison Smith on 07970 403079.
Adult Coaching
Burton Tennis and Squash Club also hold sessions for Adults with coaching group and individual lessons available.
There are 3 adult sessions, which take place each week. Adult training, tennis Xpress and cardio tennis.
Adult training sessions take place on Saturdays at 01:45pm – 03:15pm where basic technique and doubles tactics are looked at and in fun and social environment. This is a great session if you want to play points and are interested in playing matches in local leagues.
Tennis Xpress takes place on a Friday 10:00am – 11:00am which, if you have never played tennis before, or haven’t played in a long time, is for you. It is an easy and fun way for adult beginners to get into the game. This LTA programme with the content put together by coaches is for players of all abilities. All equipment is provided including rackets if required.
Cardio Tennis is on a Saturday 03:30pm – 04:30pm and is a session for adults with the main aim of getting the heart rate going rather than improving tennis skills although the session does include using a racket.
